****Community FYI – Thursday Jan 26, 2023****

Our water system has a treatment process where the water runs through tanks of calcite (carbonate mineral) to neutralize it before sending it out into the system. This is a very common treatment process that raises the ph of the water to minimize corrosion in the system.

Thursday, January 26, 2023, NWS will finish filling the tanks with calcite. It is not anticipated to impact our customers, but there could be air that gets into your service. Just let it run until it clears up.

Please contact the office at 360 352 4787 or office@scottlake.net if you see any issues. We are tracking all water issues to ensure your water committee is aware.

Residents – 113th Way — water has been restored as of 5:15 – January 10, 2023. Please note!!! Water will be dirty, please run outside water for 30 or more minutes before inside home.

Please be careful when driving, biking or walking around the entrance to the community on Scott Creek. KCL has left compacted gravel in the area they had to cut out.

SLMC residents.   A leak on scott creek drive at the entrance to the community, across from the store, has developed a leak.   KCL has investigated and water shut off is ONLY necessary for 113th way UP TO 114th way.   This will involve a boil notice for ONLY 113th way residents to be extended until approximately Jan 13, 2023.

All other SLMC Residents – please be advised that you may have to detour to Divot (down 113th to next SLMC entrance) or the store has graciously allowed up to use their parking lot to get around the work on the street for the rest of Tuesday, January 10, 2023.

We will keep you updated as the water leak fix progresses.   Sorry for your inconvenience.

WATER BREAK ON GREEN COURT

************Scott Lake Community****************

Last night you were notified about a water break on Green Court, and we felt we could isolate that area.

Unfortunately, Saturday morning another main line break has occurred on corner of Champion and Shoreview. We now must shut off all the water to everyone, although some areas may still have water.

Our water contractors are working on both breaks now and will get them fixed as soon as possible.

Sorry for the inconvenience this has caused.

SLMC

**** Green Court Residents****

This evening (Friday 1/6) a water leak was reported on Green Court. Our contractor, KCL, came in and turned the water down on that line to slow the leak. They will be in tomorrow, Saturday 1/7, in the morning around 8:30 a.m. to repair the pipe.

****Green Court will be out of water from then until the leak is repaired*****

This will take several hours, and water may not be on to Green Court until later in the afternoon.

****When the water is turned back on, Green Court customers will be on a precautionary boil water notice until water testing determines the precautionary boil water notice can be lifted***

It is not anticipated that any other customers will be impacted, but if you are, please contact Maintenance at 360 584 4453 or the office at office@scottlake.net or 360 352 4787

Thank you for your patience while we work on this.

****Notice****

After some work was done on the water system yesterday, some people experienced discolored water.  If this happened to you, please contact the office at office@scottlake.net and let us know.  We are tracking who was affected to help monitor the situation.  In the meantime, if you do experience discolored water, please run water (best is at the point of entry to your house such as a hose bib and/or through your faucets) until the water runs clear.  You will not be charged for additional water usage due to this.

We have numerous projects scheduled over the next couple of years and this could be an issue again.  Please let us know if you have an issue and please flush your lines until the water runs clear.  This is not a health issue and your water is safe.

We apologize for the inconvenience.

Thurston County Commissioner Tye Menser and Public Works staff have graciously agreed to a public
meeting with our Drainage District regarding the periodic flooding issues we have. We have flat ground
so nothing is going to fully solve our flooding problem but there may be steps that can be taken to
reduce the severity. We’ve worked with the Conservation District and County engineers for years to get
professional recommendations but have yet to get anything actionable other than clearing out
temporary blockages as soon as possible.

We view this as an opportunity to give the community a brief history of our efforts to date; hear any
suggestions the County or other experts may have; and most importantly hear from our residents. At a
minimum we hope everyone will walk away with a better understanding of the problem and the
complexity of potential solutions. No decisions will be on the agenda – just trying to get our arms around
the problem and potential solutions.

Again, we must be realistic when it comes to our flat ground but let’s respectfully hear everyone’s
thoughts – there may be at least a partial solution we haven’t thought of yet. Please mark your
calendars for 5 PM on November 30, 2022.
.
Your Scott Lake Drainage District Commissioner
