The Board of Directors regrets to inform you about an inadvertent release of private information. On March 20, our Secretary released to a member of the Scott Lake community, a list of all Scott Lake members, their addresses, phone numbers, e-mails and water meter account numbers. While any member of the association is entitled by law to obtain a list of association members and their addresses, the law does not entitle a member to obtain the e-mail address or unlisted telephone numbers of those members as that information is generally considered private. We want to assure you that no other private information was contained in the file.
Our Secretary’s release of this file was done without informing the Board. As soon as we learned about the disclosure, we requested the return of the files so that the private e-mails and phone numbers could be redacted. The Board will be taking action as appropriate to deal with this situation and to prevent reoccurrence.
