Scott Lake Custodial and General Maintenance Job Opening

  1. BROAD FUNCTION:
    1. Provides custodial duties, support and general maintenance of park and other areas and properties owned by the Scott Lake Maintenance Company (SLMC). This part time, hourly position reports directly to the SLMC Executive Secretary.
  2. Principal Responsibilities:
    1. Provide general maintenance, custodial and sanitation, and support for community park and other areas of the community as directed by the SLMC Executive Secretary. 
    2. Establish and maintain a good, professional relationship with the SLMC Executive Secretary and elected SLMC Board of Trustees.
    3. Support and maintain a safe working environment through safe work practices and use of personal protective equipment.
    4. Report all safety concerns immediately to SLMC Executive Secretary or Board of Trustees.
    5. Attend SLMC Board of Trustee meetings quarterly or as requested.
    6. Participate in Monthly One on One meetings and Quarterly Performance Reviews with SLMC Executive Secretary.
  3. Basic Knowledge and Skill Requirement:
    1. Self-starter who is well organized and possesses excellent communication skills.
    2. Ability to work independently with strong ownership of assigned duties.
    3. Possess a general understanding of cleaning and sanitation, yard maintenance, and minor maintenance repairs.
    4. Ability to remain flexible with changing priorities and direction as required to support the SLMC properties and facilities.
    5. Must be able to lift up to 50lbs from ground level.
    6. Must be able to turn, twist, bend at the waist repeatedly, occasionally.
    7. Must be able to walk and stand for long periods of time.
    8. Must be able to push/pull repeatedly, occasionally.
    9. Understand and support that frequency of work is variable with Spring and Summer months requiring more work than other seasons. Understand that during Fall and Winter support and work is still required with less regularity and at times may be as needed.  
  4. Areas of responsibility and duties:
    1. Walk park and other SLMC properties picking up litter, downed branches and other discarded items as scheduled or as requested.
    2. Garbage and Trash removal: Empty community garbage cans located in the park, park bathrooms, boat launch, ballfield, and at the dog park weekly, or as requested. Note that park garbage pick-up will occur more often during summer months, when activity is higher than other months of the year.
    3. Park Shelter: Sweep and remove debris weekly or as requested. Clean and wipe down tables weekly or as requested.  Provide minor maintenance and painting as needed or as requested.
    4. Park Bathroom is to be unlocked and locked daily starting June 1st and ending September 30th.  Park bathrooms are to be cleaned as scheduled during the following dates – May 31st to October 1stAdditional cleaning during off season months will be done as needed based on events or in support of basic maintenance of the facility. Minor maintenance, plumbing and painting will occur as needed or as requested.
    5. Seasonal Tasks:
      1. All Scott Lake public signs on all SLMC properties will be washed in May and in September or as requested.
      2. Trash cans in all areas of the community will be washed or sprayed out quarterly or as requested.
      3. Storm Clean Up: after windstorms, snowstorms or acts of nature, there may be the need to support park and grounds clean up.  
      4. Report any damages identified on any SLMC property to the SLMC Executive Secretary. Notify the Thurston County Sheriff Office immediately when appropriate in addition to notification to the SLMC Executive Secretary and Board of Trustees.
      5. All dog waste bags will be checked in all 3 locations weekly and resupplied as necessary. Dog waste cans will be emptied weekly or as requested.
      6. Assist on July 5 of each year in park clean up following 4th of July fireworks.
      7. Other assigned duties or requested.
